Another of the famous Lord of the Rings film locations can be found at Mount Olympus in the Kahurangi National Park.

In South of Rivendell, the fellowship hid under the pinnacle rock formations, out of sight of Saruman’s black crows. Mount Olympus is situatued in the remote back-country and is accessible only by helicopter.

As you land on the mountain-top, you’ll discover scenery so surreal, so wild and wonderful, that it almost feels like you’ve stepped into another world. But Peter Jackson didn’t rely on special effects to showcase New Zealand’s stunning natural landscapes, because the landscapes speak for themselves.
