Tukutuku is a traditional Māori artform used for storytelling. This type of weaving is mainly used to adorn the inside walls of wharenui (meeting houses). Like carvings, they convey a complex language of visual symbols. Through mahi tukutuku you can learn the techniques and meanings of some common designs.
