The first Waimea Harriers event in 2026 is the Milnes Beatson Wakefield Roaster - a 5km and 10km fun run or walk on the 17th January.

Registration is outside Wakefield Police station from 2.15pm to 3pm.

3:10pm: Start for 10km walkers. (Let us know at Check-In if you are a casual walker and you can go earlier.)

3.30pm: Start for all 5k competitors and 10k runners.

Entry Fee: $10 for 10km, $5 for 5km but free to chidren, youth students and members of Waimea Harriers & Athletics Nelson.

All welcome! This is a lovely course on footpaths and rural roads through Wakefield and the surrounding countryside.

It can be very hot during this summer event and there's a real risk of overheating when you're out running or walking. Remember to hydrate well during the day, as well as before and during the event. There will be a water station at 2.5km and stations with water and cold flannels at 5km & the finish. Waimea Harriers reserves the right to change or shorten the course, or change the time or even cancel the event depending on the weather conditions on the day.

Join us at the Wakefield Hotel after the event for a drink and spot prizes of frozen chooks and $200 worth of grocery vouchers.
