July Food Bank Appeal

We all know that times are hard for families across New Zealand just now, and our region is seeing its share of hardship.

The Nelson Community Food Bank lends a helping hand to those in need by providing food parcels across Nelson, Richmond and Waimea. The need for parcels has reached unprecedented levels, accelerating sharply over the last few months.

Here at NRDA, we have joined forces with our friends and colleagues in the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce and the Mahitahi Colab to support this worthwhile and much-needed cause.

We are aiming big and launching our very own FILL THE TRAILER campaign to support the Food Bank’s July food drive, and help meet the current demand for food parcels this winter.

Will you help us?

This is a call to action to all our friends and colleagues in the business world.

We invite you to join us on our mission to FILL THE TRAILER, by bringing donations of non-perishable food and toiletry items into the Mahitahi Colab throughout the month of July, and we will deliver these items directly to the Food Bank.

We know from the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic that Nelson Tasman has a big heart with tremendous community spirit. The August Floods and other recent extreme weather events have seen people go out of their way to help their neighbours.

Other ways you can help:

  1. Organise a collection in your workplace - you can download posters here
  2. Donate food or money directly to the Nelson Community Food Bank - visit their website here
  3. $20 pre packaged 'Family 2 Family' food bags can be purchased directly from New World Stoke.
