Jimmy Lee Creek, Richmond
Wind through lush native bush alive with birdlife. With creek crossings, historic stories, and views that stretch into Kingsland Forest, it’s a local favourite for a peaceful stroll or a heart-pumping climb.

Thanks to years of care from Native Bird Recovery Richmond, you’re likely to spot tūī, kererū and pīwakawaka along the way. The track follows the creek with a mix of gentle paths, small crossings and an alternative loop that climbs higher up the gully.
Highlights include a bird feeding station, a historic dam, and the choice to push on into Kingsland Forest, where the track climbs to Grassy Saddle. From here, you can enjoy a picnic, take in the views, or tackle the steeper trails up toward the Richmond Fire Lookout. On the way back, you’ll wind down through Will’s Gully, across the quirky Fossil Steps and Hart Creek, before looping back to Hill Street.
It’s a walk with a bit of everything, all just minutes from Richmond’s town centre.
