World-class enduro racing
Over one weekend, riders tackle top-notch trails, soak up the good vibes, and maybe even pick up a few UCI points along the way. It’s fast, fun, and friendly, with shuttles, food trucks, and a full Junior Enduro to get the young guns in on the action too.
When Richard and Elina Ussher took over Happy Valley Adventures in 2017 and created Cable Bay Adventure Park, it didn’t take long before the idea of mountain biking fired up a few group chats. Before we knew it, a Trail Crew had formed — a legendary bunch who still meet every Tuesday night to dig, build, and yarn over potluck dinners and a few well-earned beers at the Base Café. These legends are the backbone of the park’s mountain bike scene — and the reason the Cable Bay Enduro exists.
What started as a way to put the park on the riding map has grown into a must-do on New Zealand’s enduro calendar. A few years on, the goal’s still the same: a race that’s professional, challenging, and seriously good fun. It’s a place where elites and first-timers line up together and leave grinning.

"Roots run deep out here. These particular ones, well over a thousand years old, were just one of the natural wonders that both challenged and awed racers at the Cable Bay Enduro."
