Tasman Edition
There are plenty of reasons to indulge in a deliciously satisfying late breakfast or early lunch (otherwise known as brunch).
Here's our Tasman edition. Did we miss one? Let us know.

Settle in for a relaxed brunch at Moutere Hills Restaurant & Cellar Door in Upper Moutere, where vineyard views and fresh local flavours make for a pretty special start to the day. Pair your plate with a glass from the cellar door, soak up the peaceful countryside setting, and enjoy one of those mornings you won’t want to rush. Just keep in mind the restaurant closes over winter, so it’s one to savour during the warmer months.

Recently voted the best café in New Zealand, TOAD Hall offers something for everyone, you can even bring your dog! Serving the healthiest, freshest local produce, some of it grown on-site, everything on the menu is created to nourish customers while supporting the community that produces and harvests it.

It’s hard to beat almost 2,000 Google reviews, equating to an impressive 4.7 stars! The staff are super friendly and always on point, no matter how run off their feet they are. This place is a popular spot, and for good reason. The Smoking Barrel is famous for its in-house baked doughnuts, with new recipes created regularly, and they’ve also proved they know their way around local flavours, winning the Monteith’s Wild Food Challenge back-to-back. Brunch is a great time to visit.

Choose to sit outside under the trees in the sunny outdoor area and watch Māpua life go by, or eat inside in the cosy and bustling café. Māpua Village Bakery offers bakery-style breakfast choices, light lunches, or just a treat from the cake cabinet to go with your coffee.

Alberta's is located on the Māpua Wharf and serves up a tasty brunch menu using local ingredients (even their coffee is roasted right next door). An endless array of cabinet options are sure to satisfy your tastebuds, but if not they also have a smoothie bar on-site. Also dog friendly.

Nestled in a colourful country garden, The Grape Escape Café is a sound place to relax and enjoy great food, with locally roasted coffee. Relax on the deck, outdoors under a sun umbrella, or in the shade of a tree, enjoying the garden. It’s even cosy in the winter, with an outside covered and a heated deck.
