It’s that time of year again. When we all find our 'inner warrior' and let it out.
On Sat 18th April, Nelson Obstacle Park will be once more hosting the fabulous Wairua Warrior. This is a fun filled one day event with 8 races covering all abilities, ages and cultures giving adventures and memories which last a lifetime.
Whether you’re a serious competitor racing for their place as a NZ Rep in the OCRWC,
someone who likes a challenge and wants to see what they're made of (maybe with a bit of help) by going solo in our 'Open" category
Or maybe as part of a team with a crazy name and crazy costume out to have a laugh and enjoy the teamwork and collect your muddy hugs from our friendly team of marshalls
This is something for the whole community where you can bring on the energy and join in with the cheering . Have one of our NZ reps help get your 6 yr old over a wall and enjoy what the Wairua Warrior and the team at Nelson Obstacle Park have to offer.
All of the obstacle allow for different levels of rules and regulations for each athlete so if you're a bit hesitant you don't need to worry that you'll be competing at the same level as the Elites unless you are one. if you register as an Elite you are challenged at international level. Everyone competes at their own level.
Events like Wairua Warrior provide individuals with a unique opportunity to test their limits, overcome challenges, and push themselves to new heights.
By participating in these events, individuals not only improve their physical fitness but also their mental toughness and resilience.
As a passionate community of adventure seekers, Wairua Warrior is not just about the obstacles; it's about the camaraderie, support, shared triumphs and muddy hugs that come along with it. Reconnect with familiar faces, forge new friendships, and celebrate together as you tackle challenges side by side.
But it's not just the competitors who benefit from these events - the local community also reaps the rewards. Events like Wairua Warrior draw in visitors from near and far, boosting the local economy and generating revenue for businesses in the region.
This event showcases the beautiful natural scenery of the Nelson region, providing an opportunity to
further promote the area as a destination for adventure tourism.
We are a not-for-profit society and as such we get to help our chosen Charity which this year is Nelson/ Tasman Hospice and we ask that you help us by supporting them. We've sadly seen first hand the extent of what they do and how much they struggle to help as much as they'd like. Because of this as well as winning a finishing medal and an opportunity to join our Elites on the podium we have a special medal.
This year we have a 'Golden Heart' Medal which is awarded to the most generous donor. We have links on our website and ask that you help those with life limits and their families. You don't need to compete to donate and we ask you give what you can!
So come and enjoy a day full of challenges, competition, camaraderie and enjoy the hospitallity and atmosphere that is The Wairua Warrior.
Register on our Nelson Obstacle Park website and we'll see you there.
