Todds Valley Planting Day

Help restore Nelson's precious wetland habitat at Todd Valley Stream! Last year we constructed two new wetlands alongside the stream, and last winter you helped to plant the surrounding area with 5,000 native plants as part of the Todd Valley Stream Habitat Restoration Project. This winter we have more natives to go in, and we need your help again!

Wetlands are among our most valuable ecosystems, improving water quality, reducing flooding, and supporting incredibly diverse wildlife, with bird populations far exceeding those found in similar forest areas. Sadly, Nelson has lost 99.2% of its original wetlands, making this restoration project crucial for our local environment and wildlife.

Come be part of the solution! We'll keep you fueled with a BBQ throughout the day. Bring a smile, gardening gloves, suitable footwear (it might be muddy) and your own spade (if you have one).
It is a short walk to the planting site.

There is very limited parking available at the planting site.
Either park in the Atawhai Community Church carpark and take extra care when crossing the SH6.
Or park on the Boulder bank and access via the Whakapuaka Raupo Swamp walking track.
