"the Crispr Gene Editing Revolution"  Date To be Confirmed: POSTPONED

Experienced biotechnology research scientist and current director of Tasman Biotech and Biopharm Consultants, Dr Doug Mountfort, will talk about exciting developments in the gene editing tool, CRISPR. He will start by covering the key developments in molecular biology that have made the technology possible. Then he will outline the basic principles of the method and its advantages over other gene editing tools. He will also discuss ethical issues that need to be addressed in the use of this technology, as well as regulatory challenges. Finally, he will detail big strides in the application of the method over the past few years, from cancer treatment to agriculture.
