The 33rd South Island Chess Championships come to Nelson for only the third time, welcoming players of all levels and ages.

Format: 6-round Swiss, 25 minutes + 10 seconds increment
Prize fund: Guaranteed $500
Entry fees: $60 Adults, $50 Juniors (under 20)

This is one of New Zealand's premier annual chess events, bringing together players from many of the country's 45 chess clubs. The tournament is NZCF and FIDE rated.
