This is more than a 3-day workshop, it is a rare and immersive opportunity to learn and grow in whaikōrero, karanga, kawa, and tikanga under the guidance of leaders in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori.
As this wānanga is being hosted within a Kura Kaupapa Māori environment, we are committed to upholding the tikanga of the kura, the whenua, and the kaupapa. For this reason, the workshop will be delivered predominantly in te reo Māori. While breakout spaces and support will be available throughout the wānanga, participants will benefit most from having at least a foundational understanding of te reo Māori.
Through a warm, supportive, and practical learning environment, participants will be encouraged to grow in confidence, capability, and understanding as they step further into their roles on the marae and within te ao Māori.
Join Jeremy Tātere MacLeod, Te Rina MacLeod, and Tīmoti Kāretu as they share their knowledge and expertise through:
* Marae-based learning — immersed in the spaces where these traditions live and thrive
* Practical oratory - real-time whaikōrero and karanga practice
* Tailored sessions - welcoming both emerging and fluent speakers
* Expert guidance - opportunities for one-on-one mentoring and support
* Cultural depth - deepening understanding of kawa, tikanga, and te ao Māori
We warmly welcome all who are committed to learning, growing, and contributing to the revitalisation and continuation of our reo, tikanga, and traditions. Nau mai te wānanga.
