Martine Baanvinger is a powerful performer and playwright with a deep passion for the natural world, people and history. Echoes is a tour-de-force that takes you on a journey where joy, beauty and hardship collide. The innovative use of sound, light and projection creates an immersive experience for the audiences in the intimate setting of Fairfield House.

Martine Baanvinger
Martine Baanvinger is a Dutch born theatre director, actor, deviser, writer and teacher since 1997. She attended the Theatre Academy in Amsterdam and studied physical theatre with Zen Zen Zo Company in Brisbane, Jan Fabre Troubeleyn Company in Antwerp and Frantic Assembly UK. In 2012 Baanvinger founded the theatre company DramaLAB in Mohua/Golden Bay. Baanvinger offers physical theatre and devising trainings, directs large scale immersive theatre shows and tours her solo shows throughout Aotearoa/New Zealand. Baanvinger’s work is often described as ‘a tour de force’.

She captures her audiences with intimate storytelling techniques combined with physical theatre practices to create accessible but unique pieces of theatre. Creative and innovative use of set, light, sound and projection are guiding principles of her devising process as well as her passion for art, history and community.
