For generations, Japanese people have celebrated spring under the cherry blossoms (sakura), gathering together to enjoy music and friendship. The newly formed Nelson Japanese Choir hope to share this beautiful tradition with us through their songs.
Many of the members first came together in May 2026 for a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Nelson and Miyazu (Kyoto prefecture in Japan). Inspired by that experience, they decided to come together again as a new choir. With Japan in their hearts and Nelson as their home, they hope to build a choir that brings people together and enriches their community through the beauty of Japanese songs.
