Falls River Swing Bridge

  • Abel Tasman National Park
  • Landmarks & Hotspots

The Falls River Swing Bridge is certainly a highlight of the Abel Tasman Coast Track. Whether you’re spending a few days walking through the park, or just visiting for a day trip, this section of the track is a great choice.

From Anchorage, a journey around the Torrent Bay Lagoon offers the opportunity to visit the tranquil forest pools known as Cleopatras Pools, before continuing on through groves of manuka and fern toward Bark Bay. It’s here, between Torrent and Bark Bay that you’ll experience the breath-taking scenery of Falls River. A 40-metre long swing bridge connects walkers to the other side of the river and at 15-20 metres high, offers elevated views over the pristine channel below.

Depending on the time of day, you may see kayakers paddling along the riverbank, or a water taxi that’s come up to show passengers the bridge.
