In the heart of Nelson City at the top of Trafalgar Street is Church Hill, known to Māori as Piki Mai.

Stunning Victorian gardens wrap around the iconic Christ Church Cathedral that sits proudly atop Church Hill, with the Cawthron steps connecting the hill to the top of Trafalgar alfresco dining precinct. The upper and lower gardens are the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic, read a book or take a rest in the shade, whilst those curious to learn more about its history can tour the gardens for the interpretative signs.
