Queens Gardens

- Parks & Gardens
Located on the outskirts of Nelson City, Queens Gardens is a destination for city workers, visitors and locals looking to escape from the hustle and bustle and be amongst nature for a while.
The gardens were first opened in 1892 to celebrate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria, and are reflective of the classical Victorian era. The intimate gardens reflect the growth and development of the city, including the addition of the Huangshi Gardens to represent the uniting friendship between Nelson and Huangshi, China.
Features of the gardens include a colourful rose garden that encircles a cupid fountain, a melodic water wheel, memorial structures, sculptures and magnificent bridges. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic, feed the ducks, relax and listen to the birdsong, or simply take a short stroll amongst the greenery.
