Ever wanted to have a go at blacksmithing or knife making? Join us for a whole day activity – forging a knife from raw steel to a blade you will treasure forever.

There is nothing quite like a knife you have made yourself, whether for outdoor use or in the kitchen.

During the day you will forge a blade as it has been done through the ages, with step by step instruction and feel a wonderful sense of accomplishment at the conclusion of your day.

Using the traditional Blacksmith tool kit of forge, hammer and anvil we first forge and shape the blade. Once forged, a little tidying up with the file or grinder can be done prior to heat treating and attaching your handle.

You do not need any previous experience or skills – just enthusiasm and a willingness to give things a go. We offer a unique day within the Nelson region and cater for all abilities. However, due to the nature of the activity, we only accept children who are 13 years or older with adult supervision.

We offer a full day activity from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm
