Maitai Recreation Hub

The newly opened Maitai Recreation Hub is providing a central point of connection for Codgers MTB park, Sharlands trails, The Coppermine Trail, Maitai River Walkway and the Waahi Taakaro golf course.

The Hub is host to a state of the art tar-sealed pump track, a fully licensed café and bar, plenty of carparks and other facilities as well as paths linking to a variety of cycling, walking and mountain bike trails and has quickly become a local’s favourite to begin and end a recreational adventure in the area.

With the hub being located at the Waahi Taakaro Golf Course and adjacent to the Maitai River Walkway there are options for everyone, whether by wheels, feet or paws.

How to get there: From Collingwood street in the city centre, head south and turn left in the roundabout on Nile street. Take another left onto Maitai Valley road just before a one-lane bridge and continue up the Maitai Valley for xx kilometers – The Maitai Recreation Hub carpark is located on your right immediately after Waahi Taakaro golf course.

Please note: The Hub is open for anyone to enjoy but to utilise the MTB trails on the Maitai Valley side of Codgers and Fringed Hill a Nelson MTB Club membership or a free recreation pass from Nelson City Council must be obtained. Sharlands trails require a Nelson MTB Club membership or temporary permit.
