A big second half of the year for events!

There’s been some exciting event announcements for the second half of the year in Nelson Tasman. Not only do these add to the vibrancy of our community but they also bring economic benefits to the region and strengthen our identity as an extraordinary event destination. Some of the highlights include:
Bay Dreams South back in Nelson next year
After a great success in January when more than 20,000 fans, mostly from outside the region, attended the Festival, Bay Dreams has been confirmed as returning on 4 January 2020.
Events of this magnitude will not only put Nelson Tasman on the international music festival scene, but it will enhance what we already know about it being a great place to live, work and play.
NZ Black Caps vs England T20 Cricket match in November
Nelson will host the English cricket team for the first time this year! The Black Caps will play a T20 game against England on November 5 at Saxton Oval. Tickets are on sale now online.
Aorere Enduro
The Aorere Enduro mountain bike race is set to return in full force to the hills surrounding Nelson City 26-28 October. The event was planned for February 2019 but was cancelled due to fire danger.
Estimates of 300 visitors from outside the region and 100 international visitors equates to 1520 expected bed nights with an expected economic impact of $228,000.
A successful event in October will showcase how Nelson Tasman can run an international standard mountain bike event and be a real contender for a World Series round. According to the BERL Report commissioned by NCC, a World Series round would bring in around 9,000 visitors and have a total economic impact of $3.1 million in GDP to the region.
