Scraffito, meaning "scratched" in Italian, is a pottery technique that involves scratching away a top clay layer to expose a contrasting colour or design. It's an excellent method for adding intricate details.
Working with clay is an extraordinary experience, transforming a sticky mass into art or practical items like bowls or cups. This technique enhances pottery with unique designs. In the workshop, participants create a piece, learn Scraffito basics, and decorate their pot. Afterwards, items dry, fired, and glazed, taking several weeks.
Please note participants MUST have experience in hand-building and be confident to work on their own. The workshop is creative, hands-on, and possibly messy—dress appropriately to avoid stains.
$25 per participant. Limited to 10 participants. Bookings close Tuesday, 15th April at 2pm. Book here: https://www.riverside.org.nz/event-details/scraffito-clay-pottery-decoration
