The Tasman Devils was formed in 2015 as a spin-off of our regular connection at the session in the Free House in Nelson. Comprising Brendyn Montgomery on flute, whistles and fiddle, Davy Stuart on fiddle and bouzouki and Steve McGlone on guitar, bouzouki and mandolin, we threw our collective experience together to form the group to play at Acoustic Routes folk club in the Yaza café. We were subsequently headhunted to feature as a guest act at Whare Flat Folk Festival playing a selection of jigs, reels songs and the like which was great fun and well received. The band went into hibernation for a time, though the sessions at the Free House continued.

Then lovely Fionn Nixon arrived from the north of Ireland and her charming voice was often heard between sets of tunes at the Free House. She’s also very handy on the mandolin.

And so it is with much pleasure we present our joining of forces as Fionn and The Tasman Devils for the evening at the Live Lounge at the NCMA for the opening of Ceol Aneas at 5pm 30th May 2025. Hope you enjoy our show.
