Kāinga - What feeds us.

Kāinga in its many variations carries distinct meanings for all Pacific peoples. From land, settlement, family and home, the word encapsulates what feeds our peoples. As voyagers, we have carried pieces of home to sustain us for millennia. From old homeland to new homeland, our treasured items - our tāonga and measina, carry deep memories and stories rich in history and culture. Often intricately crafted, aspects of the traditional are continued through the contemporary and we continue to flourish. This stunning group exhibition is curated by Lani Kalapu.
